The ACCE project aims to study, develop and scale innovative financing tools for energy communities. Building on the experience of the European cooperative movement and striving to meet the capital needs for financing European community energy, this EU-funded project marks a new step in enabling energy cooperatives to thrive at the national and regional levels. By the end of the project in October 2025, the community energy financing schemes (CEFS) within the ACCE project showed they were able to mobilize 1€ billion in investments in community energy. Additionally, CEFS using public funding have shown high leverage ratios were 1 euro of public capital invested in a CEFS can trigger up to 40 euros in private investment down the line.
