About
Richard Lucht will present successful approach of Thermondo, a leading heat pump installer in Germany. Lower heating costs are the primary reason why homeowners switch from oil and gas to heat pumps. The biggest barrier to adoption in Germany remains the high upfront investment. That is why thermondo offers customers a financing model with monthly payments starting at under €150 and no upfront costs. Richard will explain how this model works, what advantages and trade-offs it creates for all stakeholders, and what additional policy support is still needed to accelerate the transition.
Dimitris Karamitsos will speak about how Efficiency-as-a-Service models, including Cooling-as-a-Service, Heating-as-a-Service, Lighting-as-a-Service, and Battery-as-a-Service, can accelerate the uptake of clean and efficient technologies by shifting customers from upfront asset ownership to performance-based service agreements. BASE is a Swiss NGO, founded in 2001, a specialised partner of UN Environment, and focused on developing innovative business models and financial mechanisms that help markets scale climate impact solutions. Drawing on BASE’s global experience, Dimitris will discuss how these models reduce barriers, align incentives, support circularity, and require enabling finance, contracts, and trust.
